FOOD

Some recommend not eating fresh fruit or vegetables, milk products or meat while in India. If you are staying for a few months that just doesn't work. So, try and be careful, make sure milk products are cold and fresh, buy fruit and vegetables your self and wash them in treated water then peel. Don't eat anything in a restaurant that has been cooked and has cooled down. Buy some anti- diarrhea medicine and keep it with you. You might get sick while the pharmacy is closed. Drink enough liquids.

Because of the tourists most grocery shops in Goa have imported food. It's more expensive but at least you know what you are getting. Check the expiry date. In Anjuna the Oxford store has great selection also a clean, cheap cafe for lunch. In Anjuna I liked Nafis (Israeli food), Why Knought (good selection) and Red Cab Inn (good selection and video evenings). In Vagator Jaws (good selection and video evenings) and Tin Tin (same) were good. There are lots of fairly cheap and clean restaurants in that area.

Check your bill, some restaurants will try and rip you off.
